KT Shim Woo-jun “Even a big runner is fine…higher than the top 5”

Shim Woo-joon (29), a former shortstop for the KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization, has returned to the team after completing his national defense duty.

KT enrolled Shim in the first team ahead of the Kiwoom Heroes game at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Sept. 16.

It will be the first time in 644 days that Shim, who left the first team after playing for the Armed Forces Athletic Corps (Commerce) on Oct. 11, 2022, against the LG Twins, will return to the first team.

Shim, who joined KT as a second-round pick in 2014, has played 1,191 games in the first team, batting .253 with 28 home runs, 681 hits, and 247 RBIs.

In the Futures League, he hit .213 in 64 games last year and .288 in 45 games this year.

He was playing in the Futures League with the Sangmu until the 12th, just four days ago, so he shouldn’t have any problems with the game.

Along with Shim, infielder Kwon Dong-jin, who was discharged from the team on July 15, also returned to the first team.

Kwon, KT’s first-round pick in 2021, had a career batting average of 0.210 in the first team and a career batting average of 0.260 with two home runs in the Futures League.

KT also added right-handed pitcher Lee Sang-dong to the first team roster.

In 17 games for the first team this season, Lee has a 1-0 record with a 6.16 ERA.

KT had previously designated infielders Shin Bong-ki and Park Min-seok and right-handed pitcher Moon Yong-ik for assignment from the first team on Friday.

KT manager Lee Kang-cheol hoped for quick feet from Shim Woo-joon and Kwon Dong-jin, who returned from military service.

Lee said, “This year, our team has been able to show up whenever we need players. At the beginning of the season, infielder Chun Sung-ho did it, and in the middle of the season, middle reliever Kim Min-ho held up. When we needed him, Shim Woo-joon came back.”

“It’s our job to help them go higher than the top five,” said Shim before the game. We need players who can play in a one-point fight. I’ll do my best to do my job,” he said.

Kwon Dong-jin, who is quick on his feet, also said, “I told the coach that I will show a much different side of myself than before.”

Shim Woo-jun is a free agent (FA) and will be a “free agent” after this season.

The size of his contract will depend on how he performs in the rest of the season.

“I don’t think I’m thinking about free agency at this point. I told the coach first, ‘I’ll do my best even if you use me as a substitute. It’s our job to make the team go high,’” he said.

“I improved my baseball skills in the army, but I also grew as a person,” said Shim, who said he felt mentally stronger after serving in the military.

Kwon Dong-jin, who practiced as if he had ABS even in second-league stadiums without it, said, “I didn’t think I would be able to come back and play in the first team right away. The coach gave me a chance, so I will do well,” he said. 토토사이트 순위
