Gaming provider Aruz Gaming America Inc AROZ is focusing on research and development to increase its portfolio of products geared towards Asia. The first products from this strategy change are expected to hit the market by the end of this year, says group CEO Takahiro Usui.
“Our strategy this year is to change the direction of the R&D team a little bit. We were focusing on the U.S. market almost 80 to 90 percent, but we will change the organization of the R&D department,” Woo told GGRAsia.
He said one of the features Aruz Gaming will feature in its new game for Asia is higher volatility. “VIP players are willing to spend more but want bigger wins,” said Usy.
The new product is being developed in Japan.
Aruz Gaming America is a privately owned company owned by Japanese pachinko magnate Kazuo Okada. Okada controls Tiger Resorts, Leisure and Entertainment Inc., which is building a $2.3 billion casino resort in Manila’s Entertainment City.
Woosui said Aruz Gaming is looking to sell more products across the Philippine market as it expands its gaming industry to attract a larger number of international tourists.
At another site in Entertainment City, the City of Dreams Manila Casino Resort will open in October in time for China’s Golden Week, Armin Santos, vice president of integrated resorts at co-owner Bell Corporation, confirmed to GGRAsia last month during the Global Game Expo (G2E) Asia 2014. The $1.2 billion (W1.2 trillion) casino resort will feature up to 365 game tables, 1,680 slot machines, and 1,680 electronic table games upon opening.
Two other large casino resorts, including Mr. Okada, are expected to open there in the next five years.
While Aruz’s slot machine portfolio is not yet “100% fit” for the Asian market, Woosui says Aruz Gaming’s e-table games are highly successful in the region, especially in Macau. He expects the segment to continue to grow in the near future.
In a customer note released Wednesday, Union Gaming Research Macao Ltd predicted that the Macau e-table gaming market could grow from 5,500 seats now to at least 9,000 in the next three years.
To help grow in Asia, Arruz Gaming promoted Albert Yu to the position of assistant general manager of its Macau subsidiary overlooking its Asian and European operations in February. The company showed off its largest booth (pictured) at the G2E Asia 2014 in Macau, covering almost 600 sq m (6,458 sq ft).
