The Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) lost their final game of the season and farewell game at Hanwha Life Eagles Park.
Hanwha lost 2-7 at home to the NC Dinos of the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at the Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, South Korea, on Monday.
After being eliminated from postseason contention early, Hanwha finished the 2024 regular season with a record of 66 wins, two draws and 76 losses (0.465 winning percentage).
The loss dropped them to eighth place, behind the Lotte Giants (65 wins, 4 draws, 74 losses), who played one game less.
The game was also Hanwha’s final game at the Eagles Park, where the organization has played since its founding in 1986. Starting next year, the team will move to a new stadium, Baseball Dream Park.
Hanwha has played 2,213 regular-season games here in 39 years, winning 1,067 games, drawing 41 and losing 1,105.
The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning.
NC had the bases loaded with two outs when Ahn Jung-yeol singled and Park Min-woo walked.
The next batter, Choi Jung-won, was hit in the elbow by a fastball thrown by Hanwha’s Park Sang-won, but the pitch was ruled a strike and not a dead ball because it passed the strike zone.
After scoring a pushing run, NC immediately revitalized.
Choi Jung-won hit a ground ball to the right side of the pitcher, and Park Sang-won’s throw to first base, which was not caught in one motion, sailed over the first baseman’s height. All three runners reached base.
Park, who was hit in the ankle by a broken bat while fielding, was replaced after complaining of pain.
Hanwha pulled within one run in the eighth inning, but NC scored three runs in the ninth to extend its lead.
Hanwha held a special farewell ceremony for Jeong Woo-ram, who is retiring from active duty after this season.
Making his first start in 1,500 career games, Jung faced leadoff hitter Choi Jung-man in the first inning before handing the ball over to foreign pitcher Jaime Barria. 온라인카지노사이트
