G2E Asia Expects 8,000 Visitors In 2024 Half Of 2019 Count

This year’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asian Casino Trade Fair and Conference is expected to draw “over 8,000” visitors, “over 100 ″ exhibitors and “over 800” buyers, according to information from one of the event’s organizers at a press briefing on Friday.

This will be about half the number of visitors and half the number of exhibitors compared to the 2019 edition, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a 2019 post-mortem report from co-host Reed Exhibitions (now known as RX) and the American Game Association, there were over 16,000 spectators and 200 exhibitors.

RX’s Asia-Pacific boss Ye Chin-yi (pictured) was asked at Friday’s premiere that the expected numbers for visitors and exhibitors in 2024, known as the event’s 15th year, were much lower than in 2019.

“At the moment we don’t really have an eGaming element in the show,” he said. It was understood to be referring to exhibitors in the online gaming sector.

Regarding the latest edition of Macau, which will take place at the Venetian Macau Casino Resort from June 4-6, Ye added, “The show is… [The land] is for casino operators and integrated resort operators. So that profile has changed and evolved over the years.”

An event called ‘Asia IR Expo’ is being held at the same time as G2E Asia 2024. It will cover ‘integrated resort’ businesses such as non-game tourism and services.

For G2E Asia itself, we mentioned ‘AI’ (artificial intelligence) and ‘security’ as the key topics of the year.

RX project director Vera Ng said in an update on Friday that the 2024 innovation is a “technology zone” and a “tech talk forum.” It will cover “hospitality management, customer relations, identity management and security,” she said.

G2E Asia Conference topics include emerging Asian casino markets, cybersecurity, data protection and financial crime trends.

The Asia IR Expo will also host a conference branded as “Asia IR Summit” with conference sessions covering art, sports and entertainment related to the integrated resort business.

The combination of G2E Asia and the Asia IR Expo and Summit, a format that debuted last year, will be one fixture going forward, Mr Yeh said.

He was asked by the media about the value of holding both events at the same time.

Without specifically mentioning the Macau government’s policy on diversifying into the non-gaming sector for Macau’s casino sector, Ye said: “Our gaming operators are diversifying now… We also need to evolve ourselves to meet their needs.”

On the combination of game shows and non-game shows, he added: “In the medium term I don’t think we’re going to separate the two. It’s going to be held at the same time because it means something to our customers and visitors.”

The two places will occupy a total floor area of 20,000 square meters at the Kotai Expo in Macau, Venice.
