An 18-year-old amateur wins his first professional tournament

An 18-year-old amateur golfer has won her first professional tournament.

Lee Ji-min (3rd year, Wonju Broadcasting and Telecommunications High School) shot a 4-under 68 in the final round of the ninth edition of the Solar Jump Tour, the third division of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA), on Saturday at Taean Solar Country Club (Par 72) in Chungnam, South Korea, for a two-round total of 7-under 137.

After shooting a 3-under 69 on the first day, Lee carded seven birdies over the two days without a bogey.

It was Lee’s first time competing on the JUMP Tour.

The JUMP Tour is open to amateurs through a seeding process.

The winners of the Jump Tour will be eligible to become associate and full members of the KLPGA Tour and advance to the Dream Tour.

This is the first time in three years that an amateur has won the Jump Tour since Kim Na-young won the third round of the 2021 XGOLF-Baekje CC Jump Tour.

Lee is also the third amateur to win a Jump Tour event in his first appearance, following Son Seung-hee and Ji Han-sol in 2014.

Lee finished runner-up in last year’s Gangwon Province Golf Association Championship, the Gangwon Province Governor’s Championship and this year’s Myeongji University President’s Championship.

“I’ve never won an amateur tournament, but I feel like I’ve washed away the hard memories,” said Lee, who picked up a golf club in the sixth grade thanks to her father, who works as a golf lesson coach. ‘I want to work hard this year and make it to the KLPGA regular tour next year,’ she said. 메이저사이트
