Tottenham Hotspur’s “Captain” Son Heung-min missed his second consecutive Premier League (EPL) goal attempt as the English professional soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the league with a come-from-behind victory. Son started the 2023-2024 EPL Round 5 home match against Sheffield United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on Saturday (Sept. 16) as a frontline striker until he was replaced by Brennan Johnson in the 35th minute. After exploding for a hat trick in the fourth round against Burnley on Sept. 2, Son failed to register an offensive point in his first game since returning from the national team’s two-game September tour of Cardiff, Wales, and Newcastle, England .Tottenham fell behind to Sheffield Wednesday 28 minutes into the second half before coming back to win 2-1 in stoppage time thanks to back-to-back goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Dejan Kulusevski. Spurs, who have won four and drawn one of their five games since the start of the season, including their last four in a row, are second in the table with 13 points .Sheffield have drawn one and lost four since the start of the league, leaving them in 17th place (1 point).Tottenham, who had been playing Heung-Min Son up front at the start of the season after losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga, started him up front again against Burnley in the fourth round. Manor Solomon, James Maddison and Kuluczewski started in the second line. The first half was a one-sided affair with Spurs enjoying nearly 70 percent possession and firing 12 shots, including seven on target, to no avail .Son Heung-min fired a right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty arc off a Solomon cutback in the 21st minute that was saved by Wes Foderingham, while Maddison’s left-footed effort from a similar position in the 34th minute was headed straight at Foderingham. In the 39th minute, Son Heung-min got his head to a cross from the left flank by Solomon, but it went wide to the right of the post. Defensive-minded Sheffield threatened in first-half stoppage time with Oliver McBurnie’s header following Gustavo Amer’s right-footed corner, but it was straight at Guglielmo VicarioIn a chaotic second half that saw Sheffield stalling and two of Spurs’ attacks interrupted by balls flying into the stands, Tottenham remained lively but unable to find the finishing touch Then, in the 28th minute, Sheffield struck. Jack Robinson’s long throw-in from the right flank sailed through a mishmash of bodies and found Ameer, who ran onto it and opened the scoring with a left-footed finish from the left side of the penalty area. With their backs against the wall, Spurs took off Son, Solomon and Pape in the 35th minute to bring on new signings Johnson, Welsh striker Hicharlison and Ivan Perisic in search of a goal .Johnson, making his Tottenham debut, rattled the net with his right foot from the right side of the goal area after receiving a long pass from Yves Bissouma in the 41st minute, but was ruled offside. With 12 minutes of second-half stoppage time awarded for Sheffield’s time-delaying behavior, Tottenham produced a miracle .With seven-and-a-half minutes of added time remaining, Perisic’s left-footed corner was headed home by Michy Batshuayi, and the substitutes’ combined effort brought Spurs back into the game. Then, 10 minutes into extra time, they added another goal to complete the upset .A slick passing move from the left flank saw Hischarlisson’s pass inside the penalty area met by Kuluczewski in the center of the box, who finished with his right foot to send the stadium into a frenzy. Even Son Heung-min, who had been on the bench, came out to celebrate. Sheffield, who had been hanging on for dear life, kept their heads down until McBurnie was sent off in stoppage time for an accumulation of cautions. According to soccer statistics specialist Fourscore.com, Son has a rating of 6.0, the second lowest in the team. 스포츠토토존 In the Footmob rating, he has a 6.3 rating, the lowest of any Tottenham starter.
