‘Park Ji-hyun with 21 points’ Woori Bank wins 57-53 over Hana OneQ in close game…2nd straight win to open season

Defending champion Asan Woori Bank has won its second straight game to open the season and moved into sole possession of first place.

Woori Bank 텍사스홀덤 defeated Bucheon Hana OneQ 57-53 in the regular season of the Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League at Bucheon Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province on Monday.

Last season’s champion Woori Bank took sole possession of first place with two wins, while last season’s last-place Hana Wonq dropped to sixth place with two losses.

Hana OneQ led 51-49 with two minutes left in the game, but Woori Bank tied the game with two free throws by Park Ji-hyun with 1:48 left in regulation.

On the ensuing defense, Woori Bank regained the offensive possession after Park Ji-hyun drew an offensive foul on Hana OneQ’s Yang In-young, and with 1:20 left in regulation, Park converted an assist from Park Ji-hyun into a basket by Lee Myung-kwan to take a 53-51 lead.

Hana OneQ had a chance to tie the game with 44 seconds left in regulation when Kim Sion had a no-mark layup from underneath the basket, but he missed. Woori Bank was able to drive a wedge into the game with 21 seconds left in regulation when Park Ji-hyun scored two points to make it a four-point game.

Woori Bank’s Park had a triple-double of 21 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists to lead the team to its second straight win. Kim Jong-un, who played for Woori until last season and returned to his “parent” team Hana OneQ, added 13 points and four rebounds.
