The W Macau Hotel Tower, located in Phase 2 of the Studio City Casino Resort in Kotai, has been approved for operations and, in response to GGRAsia’s inquiries, confirmed the local hotel licensing body, the Macau Government Tourism Authority (MGTO).
“MGTO has approved the stay of Studio City Hotel Phase 2 (W Tower) and all facilities are ready to operate,” the Tourism Bureau said.
Studio City’s majority shareholder, Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, said in early August that W Macau will open “in September,” adding “560 rooms” (example of artist renderings) to the property.
The comments were made by Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chairman and chief executive of Melco Resorts at the time of the company’s second-quarter earnings.
The exact opening date has not been released.
W Hotel Mark is listed on the latter website under the brand name of hotel giant Marriott International. Studio City’s W Macao is listed on its website, but a search for accommodation reservation engines for various dates in September reads, “It’s opening soon, it’s September 2023 ″. As of Monday, W Macao did not appear on the list of available hotel stays on the Studio City website.
Studio City began its life as two hotel towers, namely the Celebrity Tower and the Star Tower. In early April, Melco Resort opened the soft opening for the third tower, the first new hotel space within the second phase of the property called the Epic Tower, which will provide a total of 338 suites.
It is an all-weather water park that complements the existing outdoor water park, and an indoor water park was also opened in the second stage.
