Resorts World Cruises to drop Okinawa-Sanya at SE Asia Port

Shortly after Malaysia’s Lim family liquidated former casino cruise operator Genting Hong Kong, the casino cruise brand “Resort World Cruise,” which was established last year, will operate cruises from Hong Kong to the Philippines and Vietnam.

The five-night trip to Vietnam will visit Nha Trang and Da Nang, with four additional cruises starting with the first departure from Hong Kong on Nov. 12 until April 14 next year, according to a press release on Monday.

The five-night cruise in the Philippines will run for three days in the first quarter of next year from January 21st, and will make a call to Boracay and Manila.

According to the announcement, both schedules were previously offered in place of a five-night cruise service in Okinawa, Japan, and Sanya, Hainan Island, China.

Monday’s announcement did not say why the Okinawa-Sanya route is no longer operating.

However, the cruise operator said, “Given these revised schedules for selected departure dates, we understand that may affect cruise travel considerations for some guests.”

It added that customers who opt for alternative routes as a “good gesture” will receive an onboard credit of HK$600 (roughly US$77) per cabin for navigation.
